Can air conditioners cause golden staph?

my daughters friends have feel ill one with Golden staph the other with pneumonia my daughter is constantly sick with colds and flu the roomy sleeping on their sofa bed has complained of coughing up small amonts of blood . their air conditioning unit was broken but replaced i would like to know can air conditioners cause this as i cannot put it down to anything else please reply asap as i am extremely worried
