Is it ok for someone with non wide feet to buy wide boots?

I don't have wide feet, but today I tried on these boots that fit nice but to stand in all day at work would be too narrow. So I tried on the Wide shoes and they are roomier. they're a little less stable feeling though, but more room in the toe. Is it ok for people with non wide feet to buy wide shoes?
