How to grow my own spices?

It's not really practical to grow your own spices. For example, you'd have to grow a cinnamon tree to get its bark for cinnamon sticks and ground cinnamon. A nutmeg tree would eventually give you fruit for nutmegs and their casings for mace. Most of these spices grow in warmer climates than the USA.
