Samsung Solstice II- Is it a good phone for Texting?

Hi, I've been looking at AT&T Quick Messaging Phones and am currently looking at the Samsung Solstice II. I do not have a data plan (and will not get one) and use my phone for medium-heavy texting and the occasional call. I would like to know if it's a) good for texting (roomy on screen keyboard and easy to follow threaded texting) and b) if it has good battery life (I charge my phone every one or two nights usually). Please do not suggest a Smartphone or Blackberry or whatever because I cannot have a data plan. Also, does it feel cheap, solid, or what?
