Will my basil plant grow back or has it been destroyed?

I left the gate to my garden open on accident the other night, and deer (or some kind of animal) got in and ate a lot of my plants. The worst one is my sweet basil plant. it was very tall/big, but now there are just a couple young, small leaves above the soil level in the pot. Should I just tear it out and re-plant, or is there a chance it will make it?
