12 years old: Is this good writing?

The weather outside wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. I like it rainy. It was my type of weather. However, under the circumstances my notebook was soaking wet. And I had no umbrella. I tried to wipe the tea stain off my skirt leggings which I spilt all over myself on the plane. Well what can I say? That’s what I get when my ticket lands me between a rowdy 3 year old and a guy who could loose a couple lbs. I looked up to the sky, whishing for a sign of hope but all I could see was industry haze and cumilonibus clouds. It had nearly been twenty minutes and I was still standing out on the sidewalk. New York City just had to be explored because staying cooped up in an airport for hours wasn’t on my checklist. But like I said before: the rain and I, we’re bff’s. I silver mini van pulled up to the curve spraying water over my face. Yep, this was my ride. The window rolled down to reveal my older, attractive sister, Diane. “Long time, no see little sister! Whoa, someone forgot an umbrella!” She yelled through the pouring rain and busy traffic. She still had her bushy hair and freckles that freely ran across her face. I couldn’t help but smile. “Hey Di. How’ve you been?” She opened up the side door and grabbed my luggage, throwing them not so gracefully into the middle seat. “I’ve been pretty well. I’m so happy I get to see you. You’re going to love it here in New York. Come on, you can sit up with me.” The front of her car was surprisingly roomy. I cranked up the heater and shook off my soaked hair that was dripping onto the seat. “You still live in Blue Ridge, right?” I asked, leaning on the window sill. “Yep,” she said. “Been a while since you came, hasn’t it?” She was right.

Why can't I grow basil?

I am trying to grow some basil plants from seed. I used really good seed starting mix and a big planter. I only lightly covered the seeds with dirt and moistened the soil. All of the seeds appeared to sprout. The little plants came out with those 2 big first leaves, but before the true basil leaves came out, the little sprouts start to wither and die. I started them outside in a bright area but without direct sunlight. I haven't moved them into direct sunlight either. It's about 80 degrees every day here in North Florida at this time of year. What am I doing wrong?

Especially for flowering plants, this is not enough information. You might try uploading a clear close-up photo. Also, it would help to have some other questions answered. For example, how many pistils and stamens does it have? Are the flowers all on one side of the spike? What are the leaf characteristics (margins, pubescence, etc.)? Is is annual or perennial? Is the ovary inferior or superior? Is there a calyx? What are the fruits like? etc. You'll unfortunately need to get very specific to identify something down to genus or species just with a verbal description.

I recently planted some lettuce leaf basil. Question is, what does pinching back mean?

It's much like trimming, but you'll find that the stalks are thin enough to break by pinching them. So instead of using a pair of scissors or secateurs to trim the heads off your plants, you can just pinch the seed heads and/or flowers off. By doing this, you achieve a thicker growth of leaves. I'm very tall and thin and I need new clothes?

I am male, 15 years old. I am 6'4" and 175lbs. I do not like any preppy clothes(i.e. American eagle, abercrombie&fitch. that sorta thing) I hate it. I shop at skate shops and hot topic. All the clothes I ever find when I'm shopping are always very roomy in the waist, and I hate that so much, but they think if your that tall then you must be filled out, which I'm not. Moving. Moving Moving....? help?

My dad cant afford the rent at our triplex anymore, we all loved it there so big and roomy for a 7 family (now 5 family). We are having to move back to my dads moms place. Its a SMALL, 3 bedroom,1 bath, and a shower downstairs in the open only a curtain to hide behind. My grandma and uncle already live there. She takes one room, my uncle the other. There is one room which is left for me (the room has NO privacy at all). There is a basement where my 2 brothers and possibly boyfriend will sleep. There is not much room only 2 beds will fit. My dad will sleep upstairs on the couch or chair and my boyfriend might sleep up there too. I remind you this house is very small, along with a pit-bull dog running around. That would mean there would be 7 people and a dog all in a small house. It gets very crowded all the time. Our lights and stuff is getting shut off today and we are trying to be out by the 24th. My problem is how could I make this work? We all don't want to live there but its our only option and my dad keeps getting his check garnished. So we have no money and running out of options.... They're tapered "parachute" style sweatpants; roomy on top and tight when you get closer to the ankles, similar to what MC Hammer wore just not that roomy! well im a bit of a health nut and have been counting calories most of my life, there are lots of sights i know of if they pose a interest to you..but yogrut-50 cals, you established that...strawberries are a negities calories, ur body uses it right up, same with the watermelon, or honeydo..pot stickers id range a little over 120 for 3, there high in salt and oil.rice id say about 100 cals, butur body will use half of it, as the starch.im not sure abotu the skinny cow, ive never had one, cheese and beans on tortilla,,, one of my own personal staples!! 200 the beans and corn chip are a good fiberand the cheese can curve ur appitite for a huge meal. pasta depends onteh type of whole weat or not, tomato 15 cals, depending on how much, but small bowl, ur good, so id say a little over 300 cals, assuming all small portions.

theyre great! my farrier tells people to use them especially in summer when the bugs are biting at the legs and causing the horses to stomp. the rubber helps so the hoovs arent smacking the ground all the time. we have pretty big stalls at my barn, and my boy has 4 rubber mats in now :) spoiled thoroughbreds.... :D anyways, i would highly suggest getting one, they even out the ground, and help with healthy feet!

I planted seeds, but now?? HELP!!?

I planted herb seeds according to zone directions and all.. They have sprouted and the basil is the only one that looks halfway decent.. All of the seedlings (basil, catnip,cilantro,dill, chamomile, lavender, and rosemary) are about an inch tall, but have stopped growing, and wont stand up!! (laying flat against the soil) They have their first true leaves... HELP!!!! I am worried that they may not of gotten enough sunlight.. Could this be the problem??

I have been using suboxone for the last couple of weeks to detox from opiates. Is there a way to tell if the bar spacing on a cage is too large before I house my rats in it and lose them?

It's 4' long 3' wide rabbit cage that I want to house my rats in now that they're full grown. I've added levels to it and it's very roomy, but I'm not sure if my two adult female rats can squeeze through the 1" bar spacing. I put them in it but they're too smart to try and escape with me watchig. Is there a way to tell if they can? Black ops is the best game of the year, how so? When in multiplayer it takes a ridiculous amount of shots, and nothing really get's destroy with explosions except barrels. More than likely the plants are all hybrids and can only grow true varieties of the parent plant by cuttings. Cut 5 inch long pieces of stems, strip 3/4 of the lower leaves off. Dip the stripped end in rooting hormone, such as Schultz Rooting Hormone Powder purchased from any garden supply store, shake off the excess powder. Place the end in to its own new pot with moist soil. It may take a month for roots to form, but this is the best way to generate new plants that are genetically identical to the plants you have now.

Potted basil plant questions?

Help! Our new kitten won't use her litter box!?

Every cat I have ever owned has learned to use her litter box within a day or two. This new kitten refuses to use her nice, roomy litter box with fresh litter. It's so frustrating because she is going everywhere in the house, including my bed! I keep showing her the box and trying to get her to use it, but she won't. I am so grossed out and upset. I have some questions about growing Basil?

I manage to grow Sweet Basil all year round, but I do live in a tropical area. In winter, cut back on the watering, so to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Even letting the Basil roots dry out for 1 day doesn't hurt. If its really cold, just protect over night with a cardboard box, and remove in the morning when sun is back on the plants. To get new plants, always let at least one plant flower and run to seed. The seeds self sow, and you always have new plants popping up with no effort. I never have to bother harvesting seeds doing it this way. Feed with lots of compost placed on top of soil and lightly dug in, any manure, and fish emulsion is brilliant and easy to apply. Happy eating!

Why are my female zebra finches fighting?

Have had two female Zebra finches that I adopted at the same time, and they were in same cage with two other pairs. All got along just fine. I put all 6 finches (3 pairs) in a new, large and roomy flight cage. All was fine for a day, then one of the female zebra finches started chasing the female (the ones I adopted at the same time) and plucked out feathers on her neck. I separated them. Unfortunately, you'll be limited with the shade. If you can trim the tree, that would be best, because fruits and vegetables usually need full sun. Mint does great in shade (definitely keep that one in a pot because it will take over!), and beans, peas, lettuce, spinach and cauliflower will also grow in shade. Basil will require full sun, so put that pot in your sunniest spot.

I hate when people say Lexus is an overpriced toyota. Toyota makes lexus so its going to have some similar parts. but the lexus gs is a very nice car and quite fast and very comfortable at the same time. also the most reliable out of the group. the BMW isnt that reliable but is sporty and fast and of course it looks nice but will cost a lot of money in repairs and dont last very long. Mercedes is very nice but sometimes have electrical problems because of the advanced technology they typically have but its definately the flashiest and nicest looking. I personally wouldnt got G37 unless its the coupe because the 4 door g's are ugly in my opinion.

Mice are more social than other small animals (like hamsters) but that doesn't mean that they won't necessarily fight if you have too many. They could fight over food or space, or just because they don't like each other. Remember animals have different personalities just like people. Since you have a larger tank (20 gal right?) You should be able to get 4 or 5 just fine with no problems. ^_^ I had 4 female mice in a 20 gallon and they got along just fine. Also remember that since they are still young there is a chance that they might fight as they get older. Hope that helps!

I plan to use 8gb of G.skill ripjaws X series 4x2 gb ram in my first build. It comes at 2133 speed, which I imagine gets pretty hot. The ram doesn't come with any sort of stock fans or cooling. The case that im using is the cooler master rc-692, which is a roomy case with 3 fans, so airflow will be good. Do i need any sort of aftermarket cooling for this ram, or will it be ok?

As a college student car should I buy a 2011 Mazda3 or 2011 Hyundai Elantra?

I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier I own right now and I need a new car soon. My car is starting to become a money pit where I always have to fix something that goes wrong with it. I'm hoping you guys can help me decide between a 2011 Elantra and a 2011 Mazda3. I love the styles in both cars but I hate the exterior of the Mazda3 with the goofy smile on the front. The Elantra looks roomy inside and perhaps more for comfort than speed, while the Mazda3 looks like a speedy little thing but pretty cramped in the back. I like the tech goodies in the Mazda 3 like keyless entry and push button to start engine feature. Coming from a car that has no security features, no automatic windows (I have roll them and they barely work at that), messed up and staticy radio, and glitchy CD player this is a BIG upgrade for me. My criteria are good looking, nice features, fun and comfortable ride, and has great MPG. Thanks for the help guys!!! =)

Why is my basil plant wilting after I pruned it?

I bought my basil plant over 2 months ago, it's around 2 feet tall and it has flowers. I read somewhere that it would be better if I prune the basil and not let it flower. I cut the stems and now it's about 1 foot tall... A week after I pruned it, the leaves started to wilt and the stem is turning into brownish color (it used to be green in color). What did I do wrong? Can I still save it? Please help.

Definitely the Maclaren. I traveled with mine a lot - it has maybe 50K airline miles on it. It folds small, it's very rugged so you can even go a little off-road if you need to (or up/down stairs and the like). well to start off jetta too small, and repairs too high. civic small , no nuts, but great on gas and resale value is great. ford focus ........ chick car ...... resale value in the shits zone....the truth in these cars are too small for someone 6 feet tall, Passenger in the back wont have any leg room. now personally i think you cant go wrong with a chevy impala , car looks great, mpg is in the 25+, even a cobalt, malibu, even a toyota tc is a option with the panoramic roof. now if you really wanna know what i think, get a used(to stay in budget ) crew cab pick up plenty of leg room and the ability to haul any thing around. i bought an avalanche and love it........if you think ahead in life, a truck is the way to go.

I just recently bought a new rat for my 1 year old rat. she is very young, little and skinny. she seems shy but every so often seems to pop out a smidgin from her shell. her eyes are half closed alot. when i let them out to play she wont roam yet come to me and fall asleep hiding her face. but she is not social much. she is sharing a cage with her new bigger roomy and i am afraid there may be something wrong with her. she is albino. is there some kind of illness she may have? sleepy all the time cause she is really young? or just really shy and scared? (we had here for about 3 days now). (i bought her at a petco, she was with three other rats her size.) she is a medium size rat.

Cooking Salmon on the barbecue?

I bought a filet of salmon at the store (on sale!). I've never really cooked with salmon before but the grill is already hot so I figure I'll throw it on. my three year old loves fresh basil. she would sit there and eat the full plant if i would let her but im unsure if its okay to eat lots of it. im not much of a cook but always thought you added a little basil to meals to give it a flavour. is it okay just to eat the basil leaves as if you were eating a salad. or should i only alow her a few of the leaves at a time. thanks in advance x

No major harm from trying to pop it. Pressure earrings especially those liked with silicone can help. Better to use them aggressively now before it gets any bigger. Removal followed by the pressure earrings or injection with steroid may help too.

What is the best thing you have ever cooked?

There is a casserole in the Greens Cookbook based on a traditional Northern Italian dish called Pizzocher. It has NOTHING to do with pizza, however. It's buckwheat noodles, called pizzocher, mixed with sauteed leeks, Savoy cabbage, potatoes, butter, garlic, sage, sea salt, black pepper, a little red pepper for a touch of zing, Fontina and I think Grana Padano or Parmegiano Regiano cheeses, with a little Romano. It's the very best thing I think I've ever eaten. I'm also REALLY fond of salads w/ pears (preferably a ripe comice) or apples, walnuts or pecans, dried cherries and/or cranberries and a mild bleu cheese like a Danish Bleu. well, as you all know, my rabbit babies keep dying, but this litter i am deterined to keep alive. I have them in a box, with a folded up towel, then a bunched up one to snuggle into,then, all fur and sawdust and their nest. to feed them I lay the doe on her back and let the babies to there thing. is this ok? I keep them in the box in my room. Its the smallest in the house, so no one goes in, and its warm and cozy.i have put them way back on a shel in between cupboards, to keep them falling off, with a towel hanging across the cap from cuobard to cupboard, so the area is dark. The box is big and roomy, and they seem fine and wriggling an warm, but is this ok, am i doing things wrong?
